At this point of the summer, some have not gone yet on vacation, and others are already back. If, for some reason, you are one of those that are in Madrid at this moment, do not worry! The city does not rest and during August there are plenty of leisure plans that will liven up this hot month. These are only some of them.

We all agree that August is the hottest month of the year, and if you are not lucky enough to live in a house with a pool, you have to look for alternatives to beat the heat and cool off. Luckily, Madrid has several natural pools that are located at less than 1 hour from the city center. Some of the most valued are: The Rascafría loops, the Berceas pools in Cercedilla, or the Riosequillo pools in Buitrago de Lozoya. You can expand the information of these and other natural pools in Madrid here.

One of the favorite plans of both locals and tourists is to enjoy the rooftops of Madrid. Over the last few years they have become very fashionable, and represent a leisure alternative very popular. In these rooftops you can have a drink or a snack, listen to music, enjoy the wonderful views of the city or even take a dip in the pool. Who does not like to spend an evening in the heights, enjoying the mild temperatures and with a pleasant atmosphere? Some of the most famous rooftops in the capital are: The roof of the Circle of Fine Arts, the Café del Río viewpoint, the Ginko Sky Bar, or the Casa Encendidaterrace. The FESCINAL summer cinema is the oldest in Madrid, and this year marks its 35th edition. Located in the park La Bombilla, this open-air cinema has 2 giant screens, where each of them emits a different film at the same time, projecting a total of 4 films a day. In addition, every Thursday they carry out children’s activities, which is a perfect plan to do as a family. You can check the complete program here.

The Olivar de Castillejo Foundation once again opens its doors to the public. It is a unique natural space, located in the heart of Madrid, a few meters from Pº Castellana. In its large garden, it houses more than 100 centenary olive trees and thick vegetation, and constitutes a true haven of peace. On summer nights, they organize concerts whose capacity is 300 people, creating an intimate and cozy atmosphere. In addition, it has a restaurant service, for those who want to enjoy a light dinner, surrounded by olive trees and nature. A little known plan, but very appealing.
